    Robert Brunet is the founder of Brunet & Co. With over two decades of experience, he is the Principal and Registered Patent Agent at the firm.

    “I help companies build new business opportunities in Canada using intellectual property. I like conversations with prospective clients that start with “I’m looking for a trusted partner in Canada” and especially enjoy building long term business relationships. I am interested in learning about the technology and commercial aspects of a client’s business in order to take a strategic approach to creating a portfolio of intellectual property assets that creates long term business value.”

  • Sinéad Brunet

    Sinéad Brunet

    Director of Business Development

    Sinéad earned a B.PhE (1999) from The University of Toronto in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

    Shortly after graduation, Sinéad began working in sales in the pharmaceutical industry and became the top Canadian salesperson at her company within three years. After the arrival of her third child, Sinéad joined the newly started patent firm, Brunet & Co. as a patent clerk and bookkeeper. She has now moved back to her sales and marketing roots and is in charge of business development for Brunet & Co.

    Keeping with her original athletic interests, Sinéad is an avid marathon runner and has recently begun competing in triathlons.

    Stephanie Janssens

    Administration Manager

    Stephanie earned an Honours Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature from Western University in London, Ontario, Canada.

    Prior to joining Brunet & Co., Stephanie worked in the Pharmaceutical Industry for 10+ years at a biopharmaceutical company, which focused on developing treatments for a broad range of cancers using a propriety artificial intelligence technology.

    Hans Koenig

    B.Sc, M.Sc, B.Ed.

    Hans holds a B.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Saskatchewan (1984) and an M.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Guelph (1986). He also received a B.Ed. from the University of Toronto (1990).

    After teaching chemistry in the public school and college systems, Hans became a patent examiner at the Canadian Patent Office, where he worked for 7 years before becoming a Registered Canadian Patent Agent in 1999.

    Sandra Wright is a Registered Trademark Agent with more than thirty years’ experience advising on Canadian and International trademark law. Her practice focuses on trademark clearance, prosecution, portfolio development, and brand protection strategy. She has significant expertise in the creation, assessment, and management of trademarks.

    Her trademark practice encompasses clients in diverse industries, including food and beverage, consumer goods, retail, manufacturing, medical and pharmaceutical, financial services, technology, fintech, natural resources, agriculture, communications, and education. She has managed and represented global intellectual property portfolios and is authorized to practice before the trademark offices of both Canada and the United States.

    Sandra is an experienced entrepreneur with substantial knowledge of corporate communications, operational structures, and corporate governance. This background enables her to provide clients with integrated strategic guidance that aligns intellectual property protection with broader business objectives.

    For over the course of her career, she has also acted as a mentor and leadership advisor to small and medium-sized enterprises, assisting management teams with organizational development, strategic planning, and operational best practices.

    Jenni earned a Bachelor of Arts with Distinction in Anthropology from the University of Lethbridge in Alberta, Canada.

    She has over nine years of experience as a patent administrator, including 4 years in the United Kingdom where she became certified as an IP paralegal at the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys.

    Grey Anderson

    Senior Patent Agent

    Grey holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Commonwealth University (2006) and began working for the United States Patent and Trademark Office in April of 2007. With nearly two decades of experience as a patent examiner and Quality Assurance Specialist, Grey has developed a deep expertise in both U.S. restriction practice under MPEP Chapter 800 and Unity of Invention under 371. As a QAS, Grey acted as an advisor to patent examiners and supervisors on all USPTO procedures: regularly delivering training and Q&A sessions and giving one-on-one support.

    Grey’s patent experience spans a diverse range of subject matter including biomedical, mechanical, electrical, and software related arts, and as a registered U.S. Patent Agent representing Canadian and international clients, He works closely with innovators and international law firms to navigate USPTO procedures efficiently and secure high-quality patent protection.

    Vanessa Komarnicki

    Vanessa focuses her practice on patent prosecution and industrial design, working across a broad technical range — mechanical devices, software, chemistry, and the life sciences. She advises clients on patentability, validity, and infringement, bringing both legal and scientific depth to each matter.

    A registered patent agent in Canada, Vanessa was awarded the Marie F. Morency Memorial Prize for achieving the highest mark in Canada in patent drafting in the 2015 patent agent examinations.

    Before law, Vanessa worked at the bench — first as a graduate student in protein engineering at the University of Toronto, then in industry developing biofuel production processes. That hands-on technical background informs how she approaches complex IP problems.

    Julia earned an Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto and is currently in training to become a Registered Trademark Agent at BrunetCo.

    Julia began her career in 2018 as a communications and media professional working in Canadian politics, before transitioning to the airline industry. Julia has a proven track record of navigating high-stakes narratives, with professional work featured in prominent national and international media outlets including The Globe and Mail, CBC News, and Global News. Outside of her professional life, Julia is passionate about distance running and is currently training for her second marathon.
